Congratulations to HGRC past Visiting Fellow, Deborah Jordan, who will launch her recent book, Australian Women’s Justice: Settler Colonisation and the Queensland Vote, on Saturday 20 April 2024 at 2.00 pm, Electrical Trades Union Training Rooms, 41 Peel St, South Brisbane.
Using new research, Deborah exposes the class differences of the women’s movement in Queensland, from the time of first white colonisation, through to federation and World War 1. She explains the different suffrage organisations and profiles the key women participants.
This study reveals aspects of the suffrage movement’s intersections with race, property, war and empire.
The book will be launched by former Senator, Claire Moore. Wine, Cheese and other refreshments will be served.
