Event description

Uncover the art of keeping history

We’re told to never judge a book by its cover – but this time, we insist.

With Printed & Bound, Queensland State Archives (QSA) invites you to explore the beauty, the function and the fascination in the very structures that hold our written history.

The official custodian of the public records of the state of Queensland, QSA has the distinction of holding the largest collection of archival bound records books.  Whether ornate or plain, each book, ledger and register is an artefact that tells us something about how Queensland kept its history. The exhibition shows how records books were made and used, from diaries and notebooks to the formal recording of society in minutes and registers and the running of financial systems in ledgers.

We’d like for you to join us for the opening of Printed & Bound and appreciate the craft behind our documented history.
